The client is a specialist manufacturer of masts, booms, and rigging for performance sailing superyachts, relying on Epicor ERP to manage day-to-day operations. As market conditions became more competitive and cost control increasingly critical, combined with changes in management, the organisation required deeper operational visibility. In particular, the lack of detailed Management Information System (MIS) reporting limited leadership’s ability to make informed, timely decisions. SoftLabs was engaged to modernise both the ERP platform and the operational capabilities needed to support data-driven manufacturing and quality management.
Key Achievements
- Implemented Material Requirements Planning (MRP) to enable structured job creation for in-house parts and automated Purchase Order generation for job-related materials, incorporating the client’s confirmed parts customisation
- Upgraded Epicor from on-premises to Epicor Kinetic SaaS, ensuring scalability, improved performance, and future readiness
- Installed and supported Epicor MRP Concurrent User and Epicor Enhanced Quality Assurance (QA) modules
- Designed and embedded enhanced QA inspection routines for supplier-provided metal parts and internally manufactured composite parts, fully integrated within Epicor E10
- Restructured Methods of Manufacture across major products to optimise standard Epicor functionality in scheduling and procurement
- Removed or replaced legacy customisations, BPMs, and data directives, while future-proofing essential customisations for seamless transition to Epicor Kinetic
Outcome
The implementation delivered measurable improvements in operational control, visibility, and consistency. With MRP embedded into core workflows, the client can efficiently raise production jobs and purchase orders aligned to real material demand. The enhanced QA capability now enables end-to-end monitoring of quality inspections within Epicor, covering both supplier materials and in-house production. Together, the platform upgrade and process uplift have transformed Epicor into a single source of truth, supporting stronger cost control, improved decision-making, and a scalable foundation for ongoing business growth.
